In Lithuania, as in many European countries, the time changes twice a year - summer and winter time. In 2025, the transition to summer time will occur on the night of March 29 to March 30. At that time, at 3:00 a.m., the clocks will need to be turned forward one hour, i.e., from 3:00 to 4:00 a.m. As a result, we will sleep one hour less.
The clock change was introduced to make better use of daylight and thus save energy. However, in recent years, there has been increasing debate about the appropriateness of changing the time, as some studies show that the energy savings are minimal and that changing the time can negatively affect people's health and well-being.
In 2019, the European Parliament approved a proposal to abolish seasonal time changes, but a final decision has not yet been made because member states have not agreed on which time – summer or winter – should remain permanent. Therefore, the time change will continue in 2025.
We want to ask you, would you like to see a decision finally made to stop turning the clocks?
