Vilnius city municipality, which aims to turn the wide streets of Naujamiestis into more pleasant spaces for residents, presented a novelty on Friday - "traveling patios", which for now will be an exclusive element of this part of the city. These are mobile platforms that give residents the opportunity to conquer the places normally occupied by cars, at least for a while, and are very compatible with other changes and tactical urban planning measures taking place here - renewed greenery, managed bicycle paths and slowing down car traffic: renewed streets are becoming more and more attractive to travel around New Town on foot or bicycle vehicles.
Traveling platforms built in parking lots will be able to be used both as a recreation area, as a play area for children, and as a conversation space for neighbors or a spontaneous cafe. Currently, three "traveling patios" of different designs are presented, twelve of them are planned to appear in the near future.
We want to ask you how you rate the innovation in New City - "traveling yards"?
