According to the general plan of Vilnius city approved in 2021, a district little known to most Vilnius residents, Gulbinai, should emerge in the northern part of the capital, which will accommodate up to 20 thousand residents. The municipal plan also provides that this space will become one of the six peripheral city centers. Experts are already comparing the settlement with Pilaite and Rieše, and have revealed more details about what it could look like.
According to Vytas Zabilis, Chairman of the Board of the Lithuanian Real Estate Developers Association (LNTPA), it is planned that the future district will occupy a territory of 525 hectares, of which more than half - about 320 hectares - should be urbanized, while the remaining territory of Gulbinai will remain a recreational zone.
