From next year, 2020 from January 1st, alcohol will no longer be sold in pavilions - unregistered, temporary structures made of prefabricated structures without foundations sunk into the ground. Pavilions will be removed from the list of places where alcoholic beverages are sold.
This law means that from next year, Christmas towns will not be able to sell one of the most traditional drinks of this period - mulled wine. The mayor of Vilnius yesterday criticized and called on the Seimas to repeal this law.
"I would really like that mulled wine from January 1. would remain. It's a joke, but I'm sometimes asked how the tradition of mulled wine by the Christmas tree came about. That old tradition is actually five years old, because it wasn't possible until then either. After I became mayor, I managed to come to an agreement with the curia that there is nothing sinful here and everything is fine: a calmer environment, and everything has only been good since then. I really wish the Seimas to cancel that ban. It is important not only during the Christmas period, but also in the summer - for a year and a half we have felt that when we announce tenders for open-air cafes, people do not come", said the mayor of Vilnius during an interview with ELTA journalists.
We want to ask you too, should mulled wine be prohibited near Christmas trees?
