More than 4000 people participated in the final vote, choosing names for four electric passenger ships that will begin regular sailings on the Neris River this summer. The voters decided to give the electric ships the following names – “Iron Wolf”, “Morning”, “Smilga” and “Lašiša”. These names will be officially registered in the Inland Waterway Vessel Register and will become the permanent names of the electric ships.
The first two electric passenger ships are already in the final stages of production. The production of the other two ships is also moving forward rapidly.
The Nerimi passenger transport project is being implemented by a team from various Vilnius city municipalities companies cooperating to ensure the full implementation of the new service. UAB "Vilnius public transport" will perform the functions of the service operator, SE "Communication services" (JUDU) is responsible for organizing the service, UAB "Beam" takes care of the installation and maintenance of the infrastructure, and UAB "Vilnius lighting" will install ship charging equipment and provide access lighting.
