Vilnius city municipality issued a construction permit for a new kindergarten with a swimming pool, which will be built in the Pilaitė microdistrict between Karaliaučiaus, Vydūna, Tolminkiemis and Pajautas streets. The kindergarten will be able to accommodate up to 320 children.
"Earlier this year In Pilaite "The new kindergarten "Vydūnėlis" opened its doors, which provided an opportunity for children from families in the densely populated Pilaitė district to attend a modern educational institution. And in just two years, several hundred more "Pilaitės" and their families will be able to enjoy the same good quality of the educational environment. We continue to strengthen preschool education services in rapidly growing districts - we strive to make them high-quality and accessible to everyone," says the Mayor of Vilnius Valdas Benkunskas.
The kindergarten will be designed in a U-shape, forming an inner courtyard. It will have outdoor musical instruments and a planted "Christmas" fir tree. The courtyard will have a terrace for events, sports activities and other activities. The building will accommodate 16 groups, a universal assembly-gym and a swimming pool, which is designed so that the community can also use it after the kindergarten's working hours. Part of the kindergarten territory will also be available for the needs of the community of surrounding houses. Here they will be able to use the installed children's play equipment, a scooter-bike path, a safe traffic area and relax on benches.
"By developing this project, we aim to enrich Vilnius with community-oriented, effectively planned, modern children's educational institutions that will provide children with a suitable environment for creativity, learning, and personal development," says Laura Joffė, head of the Vilnius Development Company implementing the project.
The plot includes play areas, sports fields and an educational garden. Canopies-arbours with outdoor storage and playground equipment - swings, sandboxes, etc. have been designed for the kindergarten groups' playgrounds.
The groups will have a reception-undressing area, a kitchenette, a group play and sleeping room, which will have a curtain separating the recreation area from the active education and play area. Group toilets and sanitary facilities will also be provided.
The groups will be located on both floors of the building. The second floor will also house administration rooms, a methodological office, psychologist's, speech therapist's and additional education rooms. The basement will house rooms for engineering systems and swimming pool equipment.
It is planned that a public procurement of contract services will be announced in the second quarter of 2025, and the kindergarten should open its doors in the first quarter of 2027.
