"We have accumulated a lot of experience in building logistics centers for both Lithuanian and foreign investors, so the work goes smoothly, according to a carefully prepared plan in advance. We work with several hundred subcontractors and suppliers, it's quite a challenge, but our experience allows us to fulfill the customer's expectations of having a fully ready-to-use facility in the shortest possible time," says Lukas Laukaitis, head of general contracting company Conres.
Focus on modern and sustainable solutions
Currently, Lidl has one logistics center in Lithuania in the Kaunas district, in Ramučiai, and also rents several external warehouses. Just like the current logistics center near Kaunas, the new building will also stand out with environmentally and employee-friendly solutions. One of the company's sustainable solutions, which will be implemented in the new logistics center, is environment-friendly refrigerants installed in the cold storage rooms, the heat energy released during the cooling process will be used to heat other rooms. Smart LED outdoor and indoor lighting will also be installed.
Based on Lidl's latest requirements, the logistics center will have state-of-the-art solutions to maintain the quality of the maintained temperature products. Locks (buffer rooms) will be installed in the logistics center to ensure an uninterrupted cold chain for delivered products. As soon as the products delivered in this way leave the vehicle, they will enter the temperature-controlled intermediate room, and from there - into the storage room.
International Edge Certification
"We intend to certify the new logistics center according to the international Edge standard, which proves that we follow the highest standards of sustainability in our activities. This logistics center is also the first construction project in the history of Lidl Lietuva, the project of which is prepared in a 3D environment. This made it possible to notice the inaccuracies of different systems, reducing the number of which made it possible to reduce both costs and the extremely important construction deadline," says M. Kybartas.
In the territory of the logistics center, exceptional landscaping solutions will be implemented, which are planned even on the roof of the logistics center. In total, more than 600 trees, 140 hedge seedlings, 1500 shrub seedlings, and 1200 perennial herbaceous plants will be planted on the plot. It is also planned to install a green roof with an area of about 400 m2 and solar panels, which will significantly reduce electricity consumption costs. It is planned that they will cover 25% of the electricity costs of the logistics center.
