"Acropolis Vingis" construction is still not underway, but the technical project of the complex has already been submitted to the Vilnius City Municipality. According to the representative of "Akropolis Group" Dominykos Mertins, the issuance of the document authorizing the construction is currently pending.
"Vilnius city municipality in February of this year, approved the changes to the project proposals, and after this approval, we finished preparing the technical project of the complex and submitted the documents to the municipality, necessary for obtaining the document authorizing the construction of "Akropolis Vingis". At the moment, we are waiting for the issuance of the document authorizing the construction", D. Mertinas, marketing and communication manager of Akropolis Group, told Eltai.
Vilnius City Municipality has currently approved two traffic infrastructure project solutions prepared by the developers of "Akropolis Vingis". According to the representative of Akropolis Group, these solutions are aimed at increasing traffic throughput and adapting the local infrastructure to the needs of the multifunctional complex.
"One project envisages that the current intersection of Gerosios Vilties and Geležinios Vilkas streets will be reconstructed into a two-level continuous traffic intersection (...). Another project envisages the installation of additional traffic lanes and other infrastructure improvement solutions on Eigulių Street and Savanorių Avenue roundabout," explained D. Mertinas.
"Part of the solutions to improve the traffic infrastructure are already being implemented - in accordance with the construction permitting document issued separately for the project, the construction of the section of Eigulių Street at the edge of the development plot is being completed," he added.
These works will be carried out at the expense of the company managed by Akropolis Group. In a statement, the group informs that, based on current legal acts, a permit for the operation of a multifunctional complex can be issued only after the developer has fully completed the implementation of the infrastructure improvement projects.
According to D. Mertin, it will be possible to talk about the further progress of the project and the start of construction works, as well as the estimated price, only after receiving the documents allowing construction and completing the selection of contractors. At the moment, it is not known what the final investment amount will be and there are questions whether it will exceed the 2020 million planned for 250. euros.
Akropolis Vingis: construction has been planned for more than a decade
"Akropolis Vingis" is a multifunctional cultural, business, shopping and entertainment quarter planned by Akropolis Group, which will be developed in Vilnius, Vilkpėda district, on the territory of the former factory "Velga".
Akropolis Group purchased the plot from the state in 2005-2006 for 11,72 million. euros. At that time, it was planned that a new shopping center would be built in this area by 2015, but such plans were destroyed by the crisis of 2008-2009. Since 2014, the territory of the factory has been cleaned and prepared for development. Akropolis Group, which announced plans to build a new Akropolis at the beginning of 2020, said that it intends to invest 250 million euros in the project. euros.
"Akropolis Vingis" project proposals were approved Vilnius city municipalities October 2022. During the preparation of the technical project of the multifunctional complex, the design proposals were adjusted and re-presented to the public in November 2023, and they were approved by the Vilnius City Municipality in February of this year.
According to "Akropolis Group", spaces with different functions will be located in a 10-hectare area arranged according to the principle of a city block. The entire complex on the ground will occupy about 306 thousand. sq. m., and about 114 thousand sq. m. underground will be used for parking. In total, about 3500 underground parking spaces are designed. For comparison, there are 3000 parking spaces at the Vilnius Acropolis.
The complex provides trade and service provision, 2,5 thousand. seats or up to 4 thousand standing-room concert hall, food hall, conference and cinema centers, offices and apartments for long-term residential rental. Recreation areas are planned next to the complex and on its roof.
According to the group, it is planned to install 2,5 km of new bicycle and pedestrian paths in the territory of the block and its approaches.
According to Akropolis Group, the project will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the international sustainable building standard BREEAM, and it will use green energy. It is expected that after the implementation of the project, 7-8 thousand people will be created in the territory of the quarter. new jobs.
