What kind of neighbors do we want and what kind of people are we?

If you moved into a new apartment building, only every fourth neighbor would say hello to you, while more than half would be indifferent towards you. This was revealed by a survey conducted by the research company "SPINTER" on behalf of the real estate management and development company "MG Valda". Even 69 percent it is especially important for residents of big cities to live in a friendly community of neighbors, but only 24 percent they decide to be the first to talk to or get to know the people living in the neighborhood.

"Lithuanians increasingly pay attention to the community. Naturally, when buying a new home, it is also very important who will live next to you or your family, whether the neighbors will be friendly and reliable. We get a lot of questions about this from buyers. However, although the importance of the community in purchasing housing is great, Lithuanian residents themselves are closed towards strangers, so only a few take the initiative to make new acquaintances in their living environment. Therefore, in this place, as a company implementing real estate projects, we see an opportunity to encourage communities to create, get to know each other and, one might say, simply "stick together", says Mantas Umbrasas, sales manager of MG Valdos.

The results of the conducted research revealed that the importance of a friendly community of neighbors is high for the residents of big cities - they rated it an average of 8,2 points out of 10 possible. Even a third (31%) of the respondents indicated that a friendly community of neighbors is particularly important, evaluating this criterion with 10 points. 14 and 24 percent seem very important at that time. population - they evaluated this criterion with 9 and 8 points out of ten, respectively.

The results of the survey also showed that only 24 percent respondents would be the first to interview a newly moved neighbor. 63 percent indicated that they say hello when they meet, but do not engage in closer communication, at that time 10% hopes that the neighbor will take the initiative to get acquainted. Men more often said that they say hello when they meet, but do not engage in closer communication. At that time, women tend to be the first to talk, get to know each other and make friends.

The mission is to form a community

According to M. Umbras, based on many years of experience in the development of real estate projects, the formation of a new multi-apartment community takes at least several years, and the real estate developer can have a great influence on the community's creation process itself. According to him, "MG Valda" has been helping to create communities in its developing projects for eight years, and also takes on the duties of a housing administrator in order to ensure residents a comfortable move into their new homes.

"During the first year of living in a new home, residents have the most questions, so it's easiest for the developer to solve them, and people can enjoy their new living space." When managing an apartment building, we take care of both the environment and the house itself, we try to promptly solve the issues that arise, and later, after the residents have "settled in", we help them choose the administration company that provides the best services," says M. Umbrasas.

According to M. Umbras, when new residents move in, not only housewarming parties are organized, but also neighbor days events, residents are gathered for the "Darom" campaign, Christmas celebrations are initiated. Residents, who got used to the new housing and got to know each other during events or initiatives, later start gathering for joint activities.

"We can only be happy that the settlers of our projects stand out for their activity and are truly proactive, willingly contributing to the success of common holidays or events. With a little encouragement, very strong communities are created in new projects", asserts M. Umbras.

The survey was conducted by the research company "SPINTER". During the survey, 511 respondents were interviewed in major cities of Lithuania.
