Barclays operation center and technology company HCL Technologies (HCL) operating in Lithuania announced that the review by the supervisory authorities has been completed and the transaction has been signed. Based on the signed agreement, Barclays operations center in Lithuania (BGOL) begins the transfer of more than 460 jobs to HCL. It is planned that this process will be completed by April 1.
As announced in early December last year, HCL has become an IT infrastructure services partner for Barclays, with which the company is beginning to collaborate on a global scale, with an exclusive focus on digital workplace solutions.
For Lithuania, this strategic cooperation between companies means the beginning of an era of new technology centers, according to the report. HCL plans to transform the customer experience for more than 80 Barclays employees across 26 countries through significant investments in artificial intelligence and automation. The company will also provide Barclays mainframe (ELTA) technology services.
"After working closely with this company for several years, we made sure that we are united by common values, work environment and culture. We are confident that the transfer of employees will go smoothly and they will be able to achieve further career goals in this company," says Mariano Andrade Gonzalez, head of the Barclays operations center in Lithuania, in a statement.
According to MA Gonzalez, the displaced workers will be guaranteed the conditions to continue working in the same positions. Employees who choose not to join HCL will be offered severance pay in accordance with current laws.
The world's leading technology company HCL Technologies considers Lithuania as an attractive country for investments, characterized by talented employees in the IT field. According to Rahul Singh, head of the company's financial technology service centers, the agreement with Barclays will help strengthen the company's position throughout Europe.
"Our main goal in the next few months is a smooth employee transfer process. We want to ensure that every employee feels like a member of the team as soon as possible and contributes with their competences to the new era of technology centers in Lithuania being created by HCL", says R. Singh.
ELTA reminds that last December it was announced that BGOL is suspending its activities and intends to transfer about 460 jobs to the company HCL. The remaining jobs will be eliminated, offering severance pay.
