On the occasion of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Lithuania, the Lithuanian investment environment, bilateral trade and cooperation in the field of innovation were discussed in detail at the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Innovation with French business representatives. The business of this country is invited to invest in Lithuania, emphasizing the advantages of the new regulation for large investors, the prospects of cooperation in individual sectors.
"We are happy about the attention of French business to Lithuania. About 30 French companies came with very specific goals to find business partners and learn more about investment opportunities. French business was particularly interested in the recently opened green corridor to attract large investments, as well as other conditions offered by Lithuania: modern infrastructure, qualified workforce and the Government's exceptional attention to strategic projects", said the Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation Marius Skoudis.
Representatives of the French engineering industry, furniture distribution, high-tech and digital development, construction, consulting and medical device manufacturing, smart cities, financial technologies, digital infrastructure, and digital design companies participated in the meeting.
The goal of the green corridor opening initiative is to attract companies that create many jobs and implement large investment projects to Lithuania. The Green Corridor envisages much faster and simpler investor establishment procedures.
The rapidly growing Lithuanian life sciences and financial technology (FinTech) sectors were also presented to the foreign guests, and opportunities for increasing trade and investment were highlighted, using the potential of France as one of Lithuania's target export markets.
According to Lithuania's foreign trade turnover, in 2020 January - July France was in 11th place, in terms of exports - in 14th place, in terms of imports - in 10th place.
France is the 14th largest investor in Lithuania. Since 2015, Lithuania has attracted 5 French direct foreign investment projects.
