Hortes, the largest chain of garden and household goods in Estonia, is not yet expanding to Lithuania, although, based on project proposals prepared by the company Unitectus, it was expected that the construction of a store in Vilnius would begin on a plot of land near the Ikea and Decathlon shopping centers, writes "Business News".
According to Hortes' owner company Livonia Partners, a final decision on entering the Lithuanian market was never made.
"Our main plan has always been to first grow and strengthen in the markets of Estonia, then Latvia, and only then expand in Lithuania. So far, we have not come to very specific plans in Lithuania. We have looked a couple of years ago, but then we did not find plots with a price-quality ratio that satisfied us. Therefore, plans to expand in Lithuania remain for the future", commented Mindaugas Utkevičius, a partner of Livonia Partners, to the daily newspaper.
According to "Verslo žinios", the company "Prekybos parko projektai" related to the "VNO business and trade park" developed by the company VPH was evaluating the possibilities of building a "Hortes" store with a greenhouse with a total area of approximately 13 square meters.
