The technology center of the British bank "Barclays" in Vilnius is considering giving up a third of its employees.
A press release issued Saturday night said about 350 employees may have their roles eliminated or relocated.

According to Mariano Andrade Gonzalez, Executive Director of Barclays Operations Center in Lithuania, this decision is related to the bank's long-term global strategy and process optimization.
“Like any large organisation, Barclays is constantly reviewing its operations around the world. In this way, it is aimed that the structure of the company and the locations where it operates ensure greater operational efficiency. As a result, we are constantly considering various opportunities to optimize our operations around the world, including: JAV, India, Asia and the Pacific Ocean region and the United Kingdom and Europe, including Lithuania. We emphasize that these deliberations take place at the global level and are completely unrelated to the Lithuanian investment environment," he says in the report.
According to the executive director of the Center in Lithuania, the company has already informed all interested parties about this, and consultations with the labor council are currently underway.
"Regarding the further strategy of Barclays in Lithuania, including the workspace for business startups operating in Vilnius, Rise Vilnius, no further decisions have been made at the moment," says M. Andrade Gonzalez.
"Barclays" technology center in Vilnius started operating in May 2010. The Barclays IT center is located in the Green Hall center on the right bank of the Neris. In 2014, Barclays opened a human resources management center in the Gama Business Center, located near Oz Park and the Siemens Arena.
