After announcing in April about the consideration to optimize operations, the "Barclays" operations center in Lithuania announces that it has been decided to eliminate 285 jobs in Lithuania.
According to Mariano Andrade Gonzalez, Executive Director of Barclays Operations Center in Lithuania, this process is aimed at increasing operational efficiency.
After 30 days of consultations with the labor council, "Barclays" made a decision to transfer 244 jobs from Lithuania to other countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, JAV and India. Another 41 jobs will be eliminated.
"One of the steps in the implementation of the global strategy is the decision to transfer part of the jobs from Lithuania, thus aiming to better harmonize their functions with the activities of other locations and increase efficiency between teams working with similar processes and services. I would like to emphasize that Barclays is completely satisfied with Lithuania's investment climate, highly qualified employees and developed service infrastructure, so this decision is not directly related to the country", says MA Gonzalez.
According to a press release, the decision will affect jobs related to global technology infrastructure, personal banking transaction processing, mobile technology development, global security services, Barclays shared technology and maintenance and management of IT components in the United Kingdom. The changes will start to be implemented in June and will last until the end of this year. Also during this period, all employees will be located in one building - people working in the Gama business center will be transferred to the Green Hall business center. This transfer is planned to be completed by the end of October at the latest.
MA Gonzalez assures that all legal and financial obligations of the company to its employees will be ensured.
The ongoing global review of Barclays' operations will continue, he said.
"This process may continue to influence our business in Lithuania in the future, but I would like to emphasize that nothing more has been confirmed at this stage. If there are important changes in the future, we will definitely inform you about it," says MA Gonzalez.
