From now on, the shopping network "LidlCustomers who choose to donate the deposit recovered at the ATMs will not have a receipt printed unless they wish to do so. In this way, Lidl aims to give customers the opportunity to choose a more environmentally friendly solution and reduce the amount of paper used.
"For seven years now, Lidl customers have been able to donate the deposit recovered in taromats to organizations that operate children's day care centers, and we are doubling the donated amount from Lidl's funds." The support collected in this way reached over 40 thousand during this year alone. euros, and in seven years - more than half a million euros. Until now, when choosing the donation function, customers automatically received a printed receipt, tens of thousands of which were generated per year, but now it will only be printed if customers request it. This means that a significant amount of paper will be saved and natural resources will be saved," says Monika Urbelytė, head of sustainability at Lidl Lietuva.
Lidl customers can choose to donate the deposit recovered at the cash registers to the charity organizations operating day care centers, Lietuvos Caritas, Save the Children, and the Order of Malta Aid Service. Since the end of last year, you can also donate to the non-governmental organization "Sengirės fondas", which aims to preserve the old forests.
According to M. Urbelytė, the possibility to refuse the taromat receipt is one of the many actions of "Lidl Lietuva" aimed at reducing the amount of paper used.
"In the production and transportation of paper, not only wood is used, but also water and energy resources. Living in a digitized world, going paperless is often easy. For example, in all Lidl stores we use electronic price tags instead of paper ones. In addition, we fill out and sign all requests for vacations, business trips and various other documents electronically at the company's office. email We also sign many contracts with suppliers of our products and services. All these methods help not only to save a lot of natural resources, but also the time of our employees and partners", asserts M. Urbelytė.
