"After the contractor completes the planned works, we will be able to provide Vilnius with the first heat produced from biofuel at the end of this year," Mantas Burokas, the general director of the power plant, said in a statement.
According to the contract, which will be signed in the near future, the contractor will complete the construction of the biofuel boiler house, install biofuel unloading, sorting and crushing and other devices, and build structures. It is planned that more than 400 thousand will be burned per year. tons of biofuel.
The construction of biofuel facilities is delayed by about a year. The new tender was announced after the power plant terminated its contract in September 2020 with the restructured Polish boiler manufacturing company Rafako, which became unable to complete the works.
"Ignitis grupė" BNS previously stated that the company performed works worth 107 million. euros, that's how much she was paid.
In the cogeneration plant, energy has been produced from municipal waste since the end of 2020. After the project is fully implemented, its total electric power should be more than 90 megawatts, and the thermal power should be about 230 megawatts.
The power plant project is financed by the European Union (up to 140 million euros), a loan from the European Investment Bank (up to 190 million euros) and the own funds of "Igničio grupa".
