One of the largest Lithuanian retail chains "Norfa" owner Dainius Dundulis, who owns 13 percent. shares of the Belarusian shopping chain Mart Inn, says that it has written off its investments in this country as a loss.
It was previously announced that D. Dundulis invested over 4 million in "Mart Inn" in Belarus. euros, but he claims that this amount is higher.
"We have granted a loan there, after redeeming the bonds, it is a larger amount there. You know, to be honest, we already wrote off our balance sheet three to four years ago, and if someone comes back, it means they will come back, we will be happy. I can safely say that it is unpredictable, like the weather or the economy," D. Dundulis told LRT radio on Tuesday.
Mindaugas and Gintaras Marcinkevičiai founded the "Mart Inn" retail chain in Belarus in 2012. According to D. Dundulis, they have been looking for a buyer for the network for a long time, but he does not know if he has already been found.
"I only know that the buyer himself is already being searched for, I'm afraid to say, for about four years, and we know the result, whether they have found it, I personally don't know," said D. Dundulis.
According to him, investing in Belarus was a mistake.
"Our decision was really wrong to enter this market at all, and now we have what we have," said D. Dundulis.
