JAV tech giant Meta confirmed on Tuesday that its messaging platform WhatsApp had suffered a worldwide outage and said it was working to fix the disruption "as soon as possible".
"We are aware that some people are currently having problems sending messages, and we are working to restore WhatsApp to everyone as soon as possible," a Meta spokesperson told AFP.
The problems with the hugely popular service were reported by monitoring website Downdetector on Tuesday morning, and user complaints also surfaced on social media.
According to Downdetector, thousands of WhatsApp users have reported issues since 10.17:24 a.m. Lithuanian time, and a sharp jump was observed in a special disturbance diagram covering the last XNUMX hours.
Social media users said they were unable to log into the app or send messages.
WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, has faced unprecedented outages in the past year.
