Lietuvių love cold borscht has acquired the most diverse forms - from soups with different flavors or even textures to clothes decorated with them. On June 19, šaltiboršči will take on another unique form - Lithuanian Post will issue a stamp dedicated to this summer dish.
"It's nice to welcome bright news that is close to every Lithuanian in the summer - on such hot days cold bars reign on almost every table. Letters marked with the Šaltibarščiai postage stamp could also become symbolic wishes from Lithuania to relatives and friends living abroad, which may be more difficult to visit due to the current situation," says Vaida Budrienė, Head of the Corporate Affairs Department of Lithuanian Post.
The stamp "Culinary heritage" created by U. Žilytė. Šaltibarščiai" denomination - 0,49 EUR, circulation - 120 units. A first-day cover will be issued together with the stamp. Stamping with the date of the first day will take place at the Vilnius post office at Gedimino ave. 000 on Friday, June 7.
These stamps can be purchased at the largest Lithuanian post offices in Vilnius and Beautiful, as well as in the electronic Lithuanian Post in the philatelic shop. Although the postage stamp is intended to be sent in Lithuania, by sticking an additional postage stamp on the envelope, greetings marked with frostbite can also be sent abroad.
Most recently, Lithuanian Post also presented the LP EXPRESS parcel self-service terminal decorated with the illustration of frostbites. The world's largest bowl of frostbite - almost 10 meters long - lay in Vilnius, on the parcel terminal in the Antakalnis microdistrict. The unique illustration for the parcel terminal was created by the artist Tautvydas Vidugiris - it was this artist's work that received the most support from the public in the contest "Independent" organized by Lithuanian Post. "It was decided to issue a postage stamp for frostbites a year ago. At that time, we didn't even have thoughts about the parcel terminal decorated with icicles, but we are very happy with this coincidence - we started the summer brightly, uniquely and with something that is so close to every Lithuanian. The parcel terminal has become an attraction in just a few days - customers have fun not only picking up or sending a parcel, but also taking pictures next to it. We have no doubt that such an exceptional stamp will also gain popularity", says V. Budrienė.
