A charity and support foundation whose mission is to combat food waste and help those in need with food, "Food bankis going to open the first store where you can pick up free rations, LRT radio reported on Sunday.
For the time being, such support is now being distributed to residents from warehouses.
According to "Food bank", communication manager Miglė Petronytė, the innovation would help solve the problem of food waste.
According to her, people who come to this type of store would be helped to choose suitable products for their health and interests.
"We will fight against food waste and help people choose what is more important to them, because more and more residents have diseases, for example, they cannot consume sugar, refuse bread, that is our solution, that if you cannot eat something, you can leave it, and take it , which is better for health," said the representative of "Maisto bankas".
According to her, the first store will probably be in Vilnius.
