From today, all the Lithuanian retail chain "MaximaThere are no more live fish in the stores - the chain has abandoned all the aquariums that were in the stores. Back in the summer, live fish aquariums were abandoned in all stores of the XX format network, and from now on they will no longer be available in XXX and XXXX format Maximos.
"We have been consistently preparing for this change, as we have to ensure with our suppliers an assortment that compensates for the loss of live fish. Fresh fish is quite a seasonal category: it is mostly sold during the Christmas and Easter period. However, it has its own buyer, who comes looking for live fish," says Ernesta Dapkienė, director of the communication and corporate affairs department of Maxima.
In addition, the space in shopping centers created instead of aquariums will be dedicated to the assortment of chilled and vacuum-packed fish, which will be expanded in order to meet the needs of customers and ensure the availability of fresh fish.
We will continue to offer our customers a wide range of fresh chilled fish. Carps themselves will not disappear from supermarkets: buyers will be able to find both shelled and cut carp.
"There will also be more fish grown in Lithuania in the assortment: catfish, tilapia, alpine sage, broadhead and sturgeon. Of course, we will continue to offer a wide range of imported fish: salmon, cod and cod, dorado, wolffish, flounder and other fish. While creating a new range of fish, we paid a lot of attention to various semi-finished products for those who are in a hurry or who want to prepare a meal quickly and easily", says E. Dapkienė.
