Rasa Budbergytė, an elder of the Social Democratic Party faction in the Seimas, proposes to oblige merchants to apply discounts or loyalty programs to customers who shop at self-service checkouts. We asked Vilnius residents if they would like such changes.
The absolute majority, even 75 percent. (774 votes) supports such intentions. Another 6 percent (66 votes) believes that there should be at least a minimal thank you to those who shop at self-service checkouts.
"I agree. There should be compensation for working time. There should be a % discount for the basket, because the bigger the basket, the more the buyer "works", readers comment.
"Then there should be a 40% discount if the senior goes to the self-service checkout," the residents write.
"Loyalty card discounts should be automatically applied at self-service cash registers", Vilnius residents share their thoughts.
However, another group of residents appeared. 16 percent (160 votes) does not think that such a practice should be applied and does not support it. Another 3 percent (30 votes) the question turned out to be irrelevant.
"And I fill the gas station myself, so I don't think it's a problem." Of course, you always want discounts, but you need to understand your wishes and sometimes make friends with your head", people comment.
1030 readers participated in the MadeinVilnius.lt survey. The survey took place from Monday, September 23 to Friday, September 27.
According to the elder of the faction of the Social Democratic Party, it is proposed to supplement the law on the protection of consumer rights with the provision that in cases where a consumer pays at a self-service cash register in a shopping center, he "has the right to compensation for time and other costs". According to her, after the adoption of amendments to the law, the principles of consumer rights protection and fair remuneration for work provided for in the Constitution will be ensured.
