The international lottery Vikinglotto, which has made four Lithuanians millionaires over the past four years, is getting a makeover. Starting May 22, players will have twice as many chances to win.
Every Wednesday in Norway, the winning combination of seven numbers for the Vikinglotto game is revealed.
Until now, when a player purchased one standard ticket for this lottery, they received two chances of success – that is, two combinations. From now on, they will receive as many as four.
"In addition, they will pay a lower price for one combination. The math is simple - a standard ticket with two combinations cost 2 euros, so one euro for one chance to win. From now on, the ticket will cost 3 euros, and there will be as many as four chances to win. So the price of one combination is reduced to 75 cents," details Jurgita Petraitienė, head of the lottery category at Loto.lt.
Until now, Vikinglotto players who wanted to play with more than two combinations could be interested in additional offers - tickets "Vikinglotto Whale" or "Vikinglotto Plus with Whale".
As of May 22nd, these game modes are no longer available.
"Although a wide variety of tickets has its advantages, the more choices there are, the more confusing it becomes. And participating in the lottery must be simple and clear. So from now on, we will focus on the main Vikinglotto ticket with four combinations. And there will still be the option to participate in the lottery jointly - as a syndicate - or to choose a systemic ticket offering the full range of possible combinations," says J. Petraitienė.
Vikinglotto features players from 10 countries competing every Wednesday for a jackpot ranging from €3 million to €25 million.
In February 2021, a Vilnius resident won 13 million euros in this lottery. In March 2022, a resident of Utena became the owner of 5,8 million euros. In November 2022, a person from Pakruojis won 5,4 million euros. And just a few months ago, at the beginning of March this year, a Vilnius resident won 2,2 million euros in Vikinglotto.
