The Ministry of Environment intends to announce the selection of companies with which it will cooperate in presenting Lithuanian cuisine and souvenirs to the world at EXPO 2020. Installation work continues in the Lithuanian pavilion built in Dubai, which will represent our country at the world exhibition.
The winners will be hosted in the dining and retail space, which is designed on the first floor of the building and will be installed in the coming months. It has a small twenty-five-seat cafe-bar with a modern kitchen that meets all food production and hygiene requirements and a special area dedicated to the sale of Lithuanian products and souvenirs, which visitors will see as soon as they enter the pavilion. But it will be possible to shop there only after leaving the building, after viewing all the exhibition stands
Romas Jankauskas, general commissioner of the Lithuanian pavilion, for whom the upcoming EXPO exhibition is already the seventh, says that he wants trade in the Lithuanian pavilion to be modern and visitors can buy only carefully selected souvenirs or other products, with the labels indicating their valuable properties, the amount of CO2 emitted during production, etc. The dishes and drinks offered should also be as delicate as possible, and the daily menu should be diversified by the occasional performances of our best chefs.
"It would be much simpler to have one partner, but as practice shows, kitchen masters are not always successful in organizing trade in non-food products, and souvenir dealers are not necessarily real masters of taste," explains R. Jankauskas.
For trade and catering companies, which have a connection to submit offers, this can be a chance to earn money for themselves and help earn money for the producers of Lithuanian products. Their enthusiasm is cooled by the significant investments required for this activity (recruitment and accommodation of personnel, logistics, obtaining permits and certificates, etc.). However, restrictions in shopping malls and dining establishments are already minimal in Dubai, and on October 1. the opening exhibition on the positive effects of vaccination can become a real celebration of the long-awaited human communication and be profitable.
The Ministry of Environment will be assisted in choosing a commercial activity operator by the inter-institutional coordination commission for preparation for the exhibition, which was updated this week. The Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for our country's appearance in Dubai, has been preparing for this exhibition for three years. Due to the global pandemic, EXPO 2020 was postponed for a year last year by the decision of all participating countries.
