Project proposals for a new multi-apartment residential block will be considered in the municipality. The mentioned project would be implemented on the plot at "Litexpo" in the vicinity of the exhibition center, Neris river. Two would be built apartment buildings houses that are planned to be divided into different housings. It is planned to install 157 apartments in the whole block. An underground parking lot with 153 spaces will be installed for residents, which is planned under the entire complex. The spaces above the parking lot would be used for the organization of sports, leisure and recreation of the residents, as well as more diverse landscaping. From the basement, each above-ground building in the complex would be accessed by stairs and an elevator. Clinker tiles are planned for facade decoration.
"The volumes of the 1st floor would be built in the gaps near the street of the complex, leaving visual connections, without destroying the perimeter construction. Buildings closer to the street are designed with 3-4 stories, 4-story buildings emphasize access to the plot. Smaller 3-story houses are being designed next to the river. The rhythmic openings of the facade, like "binoculars", face the river and the surrounding forest.
Among the smaller riverside houses, public spaces and children's playgrounds, pedestrian descents to the intensively used green area near the Neris River are being designed. Arrays of trees are preserved in this area, which will fulfill the purpose of public spaces", - the project proposals write about the functional layout of the quarter.
It is planned to establish a community park with a small lake
Since the future quarter borders the Neris River, it was assessed whether the quarter could be flooded if the river's water level started to rise sharply. Long-term observations and landscape analysis showed that the probability of siltation is minimal and would be partially inhibited by the vegetation in this area.
"The park's environment would be created by maintaining the existing natural environment (the system of existing plantations and the environment of the water body - Lazdynai Lake), by moderately integrating new plantations, walking paths, recreation and playgrounds, etc. It is recommended to clean Lazdynai Lake of garbage, make possible recreational access to it, clean the grasslands and "civilize" its environment a little, but leave the possibility of continuing to have a rich biodiversity, an untouched environment.
This green area, like all naturally formed green areas, small forests always have woody debris, fallen trees, dry matter, etc. Without this layer, natural greenery cannot sustain the full richness of wildlife. Therefore, the management principle of this community park will also be based on the concept of preserving and creating biodiversity - it is planned to leave woody, natural elements - stumps, dry trunks, naturally occurring logs (living wood)", - the project proposals write about the principles of the future park with a small lake.
