At the beginning of 2023, we wrote about the reconstruction of the Abramavičius Palace near the Town Hall, which previously housed the Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory. At that time, it was announced that the building was planned to be renovated in accordance with the hotel's "Pace" and the principles of implementation of the Senatorial Passage. The municipality approved the planned reconstruction at that time.
A public discussion of the updated project proposals is scheduled for the end of January. The discussion will be conducted remotely.
The palace is planned to be adapted for scientific purposes.
"The aim is to adapt the former Abramavičius Palace buildings for scientific purposes. The closed complex, which has been located on Didžioja Street, the main artery of the old town, is to be opened to the public. The premises on the first floor, the inner courtyard and part of the basement are to be adapted for trade, catering and services."
The upper floors and attics should be adapted for scientific purposes, as well as for technical rooms. The shelters of the southern, eastern and part of the northern buildings, due to their complex configuration, lack of natural light and height, could be adapted for technical rooms.
In the most valuable part of the palace – the western building – the most representative areas are planned, maximally adapting to the existing room plan, walls, doors, windows. The former chapel room in the southern building could be adapted for conference/event functions. These rooms would be easily accessible from Didžioji g. through a separate entrance,” the design proposals state.
Based on architectural studies, the former doorways on the Didžioji Street facade will be restored, symmetrically to the axis of the facade composition.
