Vilnius city municipality and the Vilnius development company in April invited architects to submit projects for a new educational institution - a gymnasium in Verkiau, M. Marcinkevičius str. 72. In an open architectural competition, thirteen proposals are presented to the public.
It is planned that the contract for design services with the winner of the competition will be signed in December of this year, and the educational institution will open its doors in 2027.
The gymnasium is designed in an exclusive environment. Architects were invited to reveal and give meaning to the uniqueness of the place with project ideas, to create an architectural idea for the school building adapted to the development of personalities. The design price of the gymnasium cannot exceed 807 thousand. euros, and the preliminary construction price will reach 20,26 million. euros. It is planned to install a sports field and outdoor classrooms. The school territory must be attractive for the daily needs of the local community.
It is planned that about 480 students will be able to study in the gymnasium, which will be divided into 16 classes. The territory of the new gymnasium will have to be integrated into the existing network of pedestrian paths connected to the surrounding residential and recreational areas. Members of the evaluation committee of the architectural competition, professionals in their field - architects, urban planners, landscape specialists. It is planned to include an architect from abroad in the composition of the evaluation committee. Residents are invited to familiarize themselves with what the new school will look like in the future.
