The legendary Vilnius arena will expand

in New City, next to the athletics arena, it is planned to build additional structures for various sports. Vilnius city municipality will discuss these new project proposals with the public at a public meeting.

"The projected building is intended for the establishment of indoor athletics throwing events and dueling sports halls, creating comfortable conditions for sportsmen. It is planned that up to 90 athletes will be able to do sports at the same time in the building. Two offices are designed for coaches. There are no plans to install viewing areas. The designed hall spaces meet the parameters set by the technical specification. The large hall is designed in such a way that it can be equipped with 2 prefabricated discus throwing sectors, a 10 m space for throwing the discus into a suspended net and a javelin throwing track. The other two halls are stacked on top of each other, they are spaces for boxing training and weightlifting on the first floor and a hall for Grecian wrestling and sambo training on the second floor. The volumes of both gyms are composed separated by a functional connection. Part of the building is dedicated to athletes' locker rooms with sanitary units, which is designed at the entrance level, providing for horizontal and vertical connections between different functional areas. The connection to the second floor (the stairwell space separating the hall bodies) provides solutions for evacuation routes, soundproofing between halls and the installation of an elevator for the disabled.
