September 27 A regular meeting of the Vilnius Architecture and Urbanism Expert Council was held at the Lithuanian Architects' Union. Two projects were discussed during it, and one of them was a hotel building.
Project proposals were considered earlier, but rejected
In May, we wrote that the building of the former hotel is planned to be reconstructed and adapted for "Co-living" purposes. At that time, the planned reconstructions were described design proposals. Then the project proposals presented during the public meeting were rejected and returned for improvement.
The Union of Architects will evaluate new design proposals more carefully
This time, the design proposals are more solidly prepared, compared to those presented in May: a lot of explanatory information on the visuals. However, this time, for some reason, it was decided to abandon more detailed descriptions in the project proposals.
"The existing 2-story rectangular plan, which blocks the 3-story T-shaped building located on Sluck Street, would be reconstructed into a 5-story building - expanding its volume parallel to the western boundary of the plot to the northern side of the plot. Co-living rooms are being designed from the first to the fifth floor in the reconstructed building. The first three floors are typical, from the fourth to the fifth floor the structure of the rooms varies. On the fourth floor of the building, in the included part of the facade, balconies are designed, which, in order to achieve volume integrity, are covered with an inclined openwork facade. The part of the facade included on the fifth floor is designed with a slope - mansard type, with recessed balconies," the project proposals say about the future reconstruction.
