The social network "X" recorded a massive hacking of user accounts, including that of the Lithuanian ambassador to Sweden, Linas Linkevičiaus.
Hackers also broke into the accounts of famous people, companies, and organizations.
"This is a hacked account," the messages of all hacked accounts read.
As the National Crisis Management Center (NKVC) pointed out to BNS, the post from the ambassador's official account was published after possibly exploiting the "X" security hole.
According to the NVSC, it is likely that the post was published as a result of permission granted to the Twitter app in 2014 to access account data.
The Center says that it urgently submitted the recommendations created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Lithuanian authorities.
They ask to check whether the institutions' official X accounts are connected to any third-party apps, and if such connections are found, to remove data access permissions.
