Vilnius University (VU) students and teachers became the first members of the academic community in Lithuania who will be able to pay with the mobile payment application "MoQ" at their place of work and study. The three telecommunications companies "Bitė", "Tele2The payment platform created by the company Mobilieji mokeijii, founded by Telia and Telia, has been installed in cafes, canteens, restaurants and a nearby gas station on the university campus in Saulėtekii.
"In the first stage of development, we mainly focused on the implementation of the platform in e-commerce sites and larger retail chains. In the second, the emphasis is different - we aim to create a convenient ecosystem for individual groups of users in their favorite places and look for opportunities to increase the functionality of the app. Vilnius University and its infrastructure in Saulėtekis is the place where the concentration of people receptive to innovation is perhaps the highest in Lithuania, so we found a very favorable environment for the development of MoQ here," said Monika Rimkūnaitė-Bložė, general director of Mobile Payments.
"Students should really like the possibilities of this app and I am glad that Vilnius University, as a leading higher education institution, is the first in the country to start with this type of payment. It's great that the alumni, students and administration who met during the process of implementing this platform found a common consensus very quickly, and I hope that this method of payment will become a convenient daily tool for the largest part of our community", says Klaudijus Melys, president of the VU Student Representation.
According to M. Rimkūnaitė-Bložė, the advantages of the "MoQ" app are primarily appreciated by those users for whom the smartphone is a daily tool for communicating, exchanging information and planning activities. "The wallet was probably the only attribute left that the smart device could not replace until now. "MoQ" finally allows it to be done, and a dozen payment points in Saulėtekis means that students and teachers will be able to spend the whole day with only their phone," added M. Rimkūnaitė-Bložė.
Students will be able to use the benefits of the app, which runs on iOS and Android operating systems for smartphones, at all MoQ-marked payment points, where after scanning the MoQ QR code, it will be possible to quickly and securely pay for goods or services by phone. Students living in dormitories with "MoQ" will be able to pay for "VU HouseInternet services are provided.
By the way, customers of mobile operators who have deferred payment by the operator can settle from this payment. The amount used will be added to your mobile bill later.
MoQ will also offer additional promotions to students: until December 17, after paying through the mobile platform, the buyer will get 1 euro back to his personal MoQ account for the transfer.
