MoQ, a mobile payment platform created by the three largest mobile operators, saw the light of day on Tuesday. Within the first 24 hours of "Google Play"And"App Store” the beta version of the app has been downloaded by almost 6000 smartphone users, bringing the total number of users of the app to almost 8000, including users logged in during the trial period.
"The result is inspiring, but we fully understand that this is only the beginning of the road, so after celebrating with the team, we continue to work. At the forefront are new functionality of the app, new and convenient payment methods and the development of payments by phone in physical locations. In the coming months, payments by phone will enter well-known online shopping and dining places and will continue to expand throughout Lithuania. We encourage merchants and service providers to be open to innovation and give customers the opportunity to pay with a smartphone," says Monika Rimkūnaitė-Bložė, head of Mobilieji mokejimai UAB.
On the day MoQ beta was born, app users actively tested the peer-to-peer transfer feature. "MoQ" users tried the new payment method both in physical outlets - mainly cafes and restaurants in Vilnius - and in online stores. There, the settlement amounts ranged from a dozen to several hundred euros. Average bills of 14 EUR were paid by phone.
MoQ beta holders can pay more than 90%. Lithuanian online stores. The MoQ platform is also integrated with the largest market participants Pigu.lt,Old people.lt", in "Varle.lt" stores. The more convenient payment method was tested by the first MoQ users in these stores yesterday.
"Foreign experience shows that mobile payments increase consumer activity when shopping online. This is understandable, because payments by phone are intuitive, and the process and speed of the payment itself is reminiscent of taking pictures with a phone," notes M. Rimkūnaitė-Bložė.
Physical the number of settlement locations is purposefully increased. After the first day, the chain of restaurants "Jurgis ir Drakonas" joined "MoQ", which is already waiting for visitors paying by phone from today. All payment points, the basis of which are the cafes in the center of Vilnius and restaurants, marked with the MoQ logo, their map can be found here.
At this stage, the app can be downloaded by 30 users. The decision to limit the number of users was determined by the desire to increase the load on the platform consistently, avoiding systemic shocks. As the network of payment points expands and the platform is stable, more and more users will be able to download the app.
The company "Mobilieji mokejimai" is equally owned by the mobile operators "Bitė Lietuva", "Tele2" and "Telia Lietuva". The Bank of Lithuania has granted the company "Mobilieji mokejimai" a license for the limited activity of an electronic money institution, which is necessary to carry out activities related to instant payments. Mobile operators have received permission from the European Commission to jointly create a common platform for the provision of mobile payment services.
