Swedbank introduced contactless payments by phone

"Swedbankon Tuesday presented contactless payments by phone and the trial version of the smart bank app "Swedbank 2019". It will be possible to pay by phone in all trade and service places in Lithuania and in foreign countries where contactless payment terminals are installed.

"In order to pay for goods or services at the point of sale, Swedbank customers will only need to unlock their phone and add it to the contactless card reader. In order to ensure the security of these payments, it will not be possible to pay by phone if its screen is not activated or its lock code is not entered," said Jūratė Gumuliauskienė, head of Swedbank's Customer Service.

The limit for one telephone payment transaction is up to 150 euros. Swedbank customers can pay by phone at their usual trade and service locations, where they could pay with contactless payment cards until now. At that time, entrepreneurs who want to offer their customers the possibility of contactless payment by phone do not need to invest in additional equipment - they just need to have a contactless card reader.

Swedbank has installed more than 12 ATMs throughout the country. of contactless card readers, they make up over 70 percent. the entire network of card readers administered by the bank. Currently, over 750 people have contactless cards. Swedbank customers.

Data from Swedbank show that the number of contactless payments has increased more than 10 times over the past year. On average, the bank's customers pay 12 times per month with a contactless card.

ELTA reminds that the contactless card allows you to pay for goods and services by touching the card to the reader, without entering the PIN code. The maximum amount that can be paid contactless is 25 euros.

True, when using a contactless card, customers are sometimes asked to enter a PIN code. This is a security measure that ensures that the card is being used by its owner.
