Vilnius University The School of Business (VU VM) and the Western Union Foundation have joined hands - together they will invite representatives of Lithuanian education and students to be interested in innovations that change education. November 9, Litexpo in the exhibition and congress center, at the "Web3: Impact the Economy" conference, VU VM together with "Western Union Foundation" will organize the session "Education Prerequisite". In it, professionals and practitioners will talk about the possibilities of Web3. Teachers and students will be able to participate in this session for free. They will also be able to visit the Web3: Impact the Economy space to make new connections. It is important to mention that Ukrainian children living in Lithuania are also invited to the event.
Web3 is the future of education
Web3 technologies aim to give Internet users more power to decide how their data is used, how privacy is protected, reduce the number of intermediaries, and provide more freedom and opportunity on the Internet. Blockchain technology is mostly used for this, digital identity solutions are being developed, the aim is to decentralize Web3 applications as much as possible, etc.
Students also benefit from this technology. Web3 allows each learner to control their own progress and personalize their learning experience. Studies have shown that students learn content up to 4 times faster when using virtual reality.
Virtual reality promotes the learning process
According to VU Business School director dr. Birutė Miškinienė, Web3 is a combination of technologies, where virtual worlds connect with the metauniverse. This is very relevant for modern education, as it creates opportunities to learn and create content in virtual reality. There are more opportunities for experimentation, which is not always possible in schools. Especially when it comes to regional schools far from big cities.
"With a few virtual reality glasses, you can virtually perform chemistry, physics, biology experiments and even "visit" foreign countries," said Dr. Birutė Miškinienė.
The director of the VU Business School also adds that Web3 can give students the opportunity to play while learning and earn from it. The content that students hear or learn can be translated into financial expression individually or in teams, for example by setting a common goal with the class. This will be discussed in more detail in November. at the upcoming event.
University and business cooperation
"Western Union Foundation" has been cooperating with Vilnius University for some time, investing in social activities.
