After a year's break, a traditional spectacle has returned to Vilnius - a Christmas tale is already shown on the great wall of the Cathedral. Based on the novel of the same name by the English writer Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol" will delight you more than 30 times for free until December 40.
This year, since Christmas, it has been specially shown more often in order to disperse the flow of viewers. Up to 15 min. duration of the tale in the open space is repeated even 7 times a year. Spectators are expected to take into account the stricter recommendations and responsibly choose to watch the fairy tale by keeping a distance, properly wearing masks or respirators even in an open space, when there is a distance of less than 2 m from others.
Based on Charles Dickens' novel, the animated fairy tale reminds us that the greatest wealth of each of us is our family and dear people around us. The creative team had more than a year to create the Christmas fairy tale.
"We put together this unique story bit by bit. Every time you want something new, unseen, unheard of. Our talented and diligent animators always strive for perfection. Presenting such a project to Vilnius and Lithuania, we feel a great responsibility. The essence of this tale is a strong emotion, exaltation of true values", says Linartas Urniežis, head of the developer company Video Architects.
When creating a Christmas tale, the main focus was on fitting a story that would take hours to tell into 15 minutes. The biggest challenge was to preserve the chronology and essence of the story, where every detail is important. The voice of the narrator behind the frame and its synergy with the animation helped to make everything coherent: it creates a separate dimension in the story, explains and narrates the action of certain mise-en-scenes, takes the viewer through the spaces, running ahead of the future action in the animation. "Christmas carol" was sung by Vytautas Rumšas senior.
