This is not only economical, but also a creative, nature-friendly way to decorate your home in a cozy and festive way.
On December 19, from 12:19 p.m. to 120:XNUMX p.m., free fir branches and pine cones will be distributed throughout Lithuania in the main squares of cities and towns, in the parking lots of large shopping centers, etc. The exact locations of dividing branches, of which there are around XNUMX this year, are indicated on the website of the State Forestry Office at www.vivmu.lt.
"We are glad that foresters have managed to create such a long-lasting and cozy tradition - residents look forward to the "Bring Christmas to Your Home" campaign every year. By donating Christmas tree branches, foresters contribute to the festive mood and joyful anticipation of the holidays: a Christmas tree branch can be decorated together with children, and Christmas bouquets or wreaths can be made from them. A Christmas tree branch decorated with Christmas toys and pine cones will also bring joy and give your home a festive cosiness and the characteristic Christmas tree smell. By protecting nature and encouraging people to choose a branch rather than a cut Christmas tree, we are nurturing Christmas traditions and at the same time developing conscious consumption," says Valdas Kaubrė, Director of the State Forest Enterprise.
The traditional campaign "Bring Christmas to Your Home" was first held in 2006. It was organized by Šiauliai foresters at the time, and after receiving great interest from residents, this campaign covered the entire country.
The campaign "Bring Christmas to your home" attracts thousands of Lithuanian residents every year - over 100 gifts are distributed throughout the country. Christmas tree branches. Spruce branches intended for this initiative are brought from logging sites, thus rationally using forest resources. In order for the fir branch to last longer, it is recommended to soak it in a container with water.
For those who still want to decorate a Christmas tree at home, foresters recommend contacting the State Forestry Office - the trees for the holiday are specially grown in nurseries or plantations for that purpose. Where you can buy a Christmas tree is also published on the website of the State Forest Office.
