The Public Forestry Authority of VĮ starts selling Christmas trees. In the territories of the company's regional branches, in almost 120 places throughout Lithuania, residents can already purchase Christmas trees from the forest, decorative Christmas trees in pots, as well as Christmas trees or pine branches. Information about all trading places, prices and which trees can be purchased is published at www.vivmu.lt.
"We are glad that families with children are increasingly coming to decorate their homes with Christmas trees or branches, for whom it has become a tradition, and from which the real anticipation of Christmas begins. The State Forestry Enterprise prepares for the holidays all year round - thousands of trees are grown in nurseries every year, so residents can choose not only ordinary, but also white spruces, mountain or black pines, and firs."
During our traditional campaign "Bring Christmas to your home", which will take place this year on December 19, we will again distribute not only fir branches, but also pine cones for free. Last year, more than 100 thousand fir branches were distributed - this shows that this campaign is welcome by residents. And this is a great opportunity for all residents to contribute to nature conservation," said Valdas Kaubrė, Director of the State Forest Enterprise.
Interest in Christmas trees usually begins in the second half of November. Residents, as well as various organizations, kindergartens and schools apply to the company's nurseries and forest nurseries. The largest influx of residents occurs in mid-December, just before the major holidays of the year.
This year, Christmas tree prices are similar to last year: ordinary Christmas trees from the forest, depending on the type and size (from 0,5 m to 4 m and higher), cost from 2 to 35 euros, those grown on plantations - from 5 to 40 euros. The price of silver Christmas trees grown on plantations is from 10 to 100 euros.
Residents who want to decorate their homes with a fir branch for the holidays, make a Christmas bouquet or weave a Christmas wreath can purchase fir or pine branches, the price of which ranges from 0,5 to 1,5 euros. In most of the State Forest Enterprise's sales points, when purchasing Christmas trees, payment for them can only be made by bank cards.
Foresters are urging residents not to wander around the forest and not to cut down trees. Unauthorized felling causes significant damage to nature, and this violation also incurs an administrative fine.
The State Forestry Enterprise encourages residents to contact foresters regarding Christmas trees or branches - Christmas trees are specially grown for Christmas or cut down only where possible, so the most beautiful holiday traditions can be cherished and enjoyed responsibly.
