On Saturday evening, the main Christmas trees of the city and Lithuania will be celebrated On the Cathedral Square with the lighting, a 5-week long winter holiday festival will be announced - Christmas towns will come to life, the Christmas train will spin, and the ice rink will be waiting for skaters Lukiškiai square, a new 3D Christmas fairy tale will surprise you, the festive decoration of the city and its bridges will set the mood, the International Christmas Charity Fair will take place and many other fun activities.
"Christmas in Vilnius is so memorable due to the fact that the festive atmosphere is created here by talented, especially hospitable and friendly people, which attracts an increasing number of guests from other cities and countries every year. This year, the team and I tried to create a festival that combines unique ideas, style, modernity and traditions", invites the mayor of the capital Remigius Šimašius.
The Vilnius Christmas tree, which dictates the fashion of Christmas trees, has already earned the capital the reputation of one of the most beautiful and magical Christmas cities. What will surprise this year's Christmas tree is traditionally not revealed until the last minute of the event, but we didn't have to wait long.
"The Christmas tree will be 27 meters high, and a large town will be built around it. The project used more than 7 km of garlands and more than 100 thousand. LEDs. It will be bright, vivid and, I hope, will surprise everyone with an unexpected theme," said Dominykas Koncevičius, one of the creators of the Christmas tree.
Jurijs Veklenko, Ieva Narkutė, Jurgis Bruzga, Dainotas Varnas, Paulė, Saulius Prūsaitis and others will perform concerts for those gathered.
Christmas Tree in the town hall square this year will be lit two hours earlier than the big Christmas tree in Cathedral Square. Children of the music and dance studio "Džimba", performer and songwriter Aldegunda will perform here.
Also, on Saturday, the International Christmas Charity Fair is held in the Vilnius Town Hall. At the 17th fair, it will traditionally be possible to meet employees of foreign embassies operating in Lithuania and representatives of public organizations, and to purchase handicrafts and delicacies made by them. The funds collected during the fair will be donated to ten Lithuanian organizations that care for children, the disabled and the elderly.
