The city started preparing for Christmas already in the summer, when it was announced in July about the possibility of submitting applications to merchants. At the same time, it turned out that this year Vilnius residents and guests of the city will once again have three different Christmas towns waiting for them.
In Vilnius, the Christmas towns will be located in three locations: the main one in Cathedral Square and Vincos Kudirka Square and Odminiu Square. On the Cathedral Square The Christmas town located in Other Christmas towns will be open for a shorter time - until January 26.
Since every year the Christmas towns begin to operate on the day of the tree lighting, this year the scenario should repeat itself. It is likely that the lighting of the Christmas tree will also take place on November 26. So far, the organizers have not revealed what kind of tree this year will be. However, when celebrating the anniversary year of the city of Vilnius, you can expect something spectacular.
"During the festive period, tourists from Vilnius, recognized as one of the most interesting Christmas destinations in Europe, are attracted not only by the desire to see the legendary Christmas tree of the capital, which surprises the world with its impressive images every year, but also the traditional Vilnius Christmas town, which creates a special mood in the city's squares and squares. We hope that, welcoming the anniversary year of the city of Vilnius, this year's Christmas town will surprise with an exceptional assortment of various gifts and delicacies and will fulfill the Christmas wishes of even the pickiest visitors," says Paulius Jurgutis, director of the Vilnius Cultural Center, the organizer of the "Christmas in the Capital" program.
Merchant registration has already ended. Now a special commission will select those merchants who meet the concept of festive winter trade.
