Today, everyone traveling with "Bolt" and choosing the special category "I Plant a Christmas Tree" will contribute to planting trees in Lithuania - one trip will mean one Christmas tree planted.
Minister of the Environment Kęstutis Mažeika, who supports the initiative, says that regulating transport pollution is necessary and very welcome when the initiative and the way to do it come, first of all, from the companies providing transport services themselves.
"Only business itself can find the best way to reconcile environmental goals and its own interests so that neither one nor the other is harmed. This initiative shows that it is possible to do this. In addition, it draws attention to the growing and planting of trees, which is of great concern to all of us, and to which the ministry also pays and will continue to pay a lot of attention. Personally, I promise to give priority to companies providing environmentally sustainable services that plant trees in Lithuania on their own initiative," says the minister.
Bolt Lithuania CEO Andrius Pacevičius says that this initiative is just one part of the company's green strategic plan. Its main goal is to draw public attention, encourage responsible use of road transport, and choose greener means of transport every day.
"Trips with Bolt have been carbon neutral for some time now – we aim to offset all carbon dioxide emissions with green solutions in all countries where our services operate. One of these is planting trees for every trip taken in Lithuania with Bolt. Symbolically, on the occasion of the upcoming holidays, we chose to plant Christmas trees," says A. Pacevičius.
It's easy to contribute to this green initiative - on Friday, the Bolt app will be launching a special car category called "I'm Planting a Christmas Tree," which you just need to select before booking your trip. Those traveling in cars in this category will contribute to climate change mitigation and the company's environmental initiatives. Moreover, it will not cost passengers anything extra. It is expected that by December 20, at least 1 trips will be made, for which a Christmas tree will be planted, as part of the company's initiative.
