Today, December 9, at 12 p.m. the Liepkalnis ski center, which is waiting for all skiing enthusiasts, opens. It is promised that tracks 2 and 3 will work.
As in previous years, the number of skiers on Liepkalnis mountain will be limited - tickets will be sold in advance.
"Taking into account your good feedback about limiting the flow of customers on the mountain last year, when no one had to wait in lines at the lifts - we decided to do the same this year as well. We will limit the number of customers in order to make it comfortable for everyone to ski," the center's statement reads.
Equipment rental, Liepkalnis ski school and a cafe located on the mountain will be available from the first days of opening.
Those who want to access the facilities: the rental point, the ski school and the cafe need an opportunity passport.
The Liepkalnis ski slope is open for about 80-90 days each year, and the ski season has been in late November or early December for the past few years.
During the winter season in Liepkalnis, there are 10 tracks that are constantly maintained and maintained. They are divided according to the level of difficulty, so everyone will find a suitable route here: from beginners to professionals. The total length of the tracks is 2,6 km. The tracks don't need blizzards or extreme cold to operate. The mountain is equipped with a modern snowmaking system, which allows you to prepare the tracks and open them for skiers as soon as the frost hits. In the Liepkalnis snowpark, there are usually about 20-30 figures of varying complexity, there is a bugle lift near the snowpark. Also this season, it will be easier for beginners and children, as the beginner's track is equipped with a comfortable belt lift.
Liepkalnis
Liepkalnis is located in the eastern part of Vilnius, in the Rasai district, next to the intersection of Minsk highway and Liepkalnis street. From a natural point of view, this hill is located on the Medininkai upland, on the southwestern edge of the Ribiškii erosive hill. Liepkalnis with the artificially elevated Laimios mountain is the highest place in Vilnius (235 m above sea level), protected in the Pavilniai Regional Park. In the west, east and north, Liepkalnis is surrounded by deep ridges, also called dry slopes. The foot of the mountain is at an altitude of about 175 m, so the relative height of the mountain is as much as 60 meters.
Today, Mount Laimios is a gathering place for skiing enthusiasts, the largest mountain skiing center in Vilnius. There are 10 downhill runs of varying difficulty - a "green" run for beginners, four blue runs for intermediates, three red runs for advanced skiers and one black run for particularly experienced skiers. There are ten lifts in total - two for children, seven bugle lifts and one brand new snow park bugle lift. In the evening, the tracks are illuminated by a modern lighting system, which extends the working hours of the tracks until late in the evening. Liepkalnis belongs to the Pavilniai Regional Park. Kadani mountain is intensively used for recreation, a recreational priority zone has been designated here.
