"Baltic Cinema Days" starts tomorrow in Vilnius. This is the first time a unique event is organized event, when Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian films will be shown for free in the capitals of the three Baltic countries, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, on the same days. It is symbolic that the event starts on the eve of the "Baltic Road" commemoration.
The purpose of "Baltic Cinema Days" is to present films from neighboring countries to the audience. In the last few years, only one other Latvian and Estonian film has been added to the repertoire of Lithuanian cinemas, while all three countries produce 8-10 feature films on average every year. Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian film centers have taken the initiative to increase the dissemination of these films - they invite you to watch them for free and meet the creators. Hopefully this will become a nice annual tradition.
It is symbolic that the joint project of the three Baltic countries begins in Vilnius on the eve of the "Baltic Road" commemoration. On this occasion, August 23 viewers who come to the movies will have the opportunity to see the documentary film "Baltic Road" created by Lithuanian directors Audrias Stonis and Arūnas Matelis and rarely shown today. During "Baltic Cinema Days" Lithuanian viewers will be able to see both the latest Latvian and Estonian films that have won recognition at foreign festivals. Lithuanian films will be shown in Riga and Tallinn at that time.
