The jubilee "Baltic Cinema Days" starts today in Vilnius, at Forum Cinemas Vingis. This is the fifth time it has been held event again invites you to watch the most interesting films from the Baltic countries in recent years. All screenings of "Baltic Cinema Days" are free. The event is organized by the Lithuanian Film Center.
August 24-25 four films will be presented to the audience: two Latvian and two Estonian films.
Today, August 24, at 18 p.m. "Baltic Cinema Days" will be opened by the Estonian comedy "All the best, Soviet Union" (dir. Lauri Randla, 2020). At the opening, director of the Lithuanian Film Center Laimonas Ubavičius will give a welcome speech, film critic Monika Gimbutaitė will present the film. The opening film will tell the story of Johannes, who, abandoned by his mother, will have to deal with the challenges of life, adolescence and the changing world against the dramatic background of the collapsing Soviet Union.
On the same evening, at 20.30:2020 p.m., the audience will be invited to watch the Estonian documentary "The Beauty of Being" (dir. Jaan Tootsen, XNUMX) about the Estonian natural philosopher Fred Jüssi. This film is a hymn to the slow way of life, the pursuit of a simpler and more meaningful life and the beauty of nature.
August 25th "Baltic Cinema Days" will be dedicated to Latvian cinema. 18 p.m. "Forum Cinemas Vingis" in Vilnius will show the animated film "Favorite War" (2020) by the Latvian director Ilze Burkovska Jacobsen, where the audience will be introduced to the Soviet Latvija During the Cold War. The director created the film based on her own childhood memories.
The same evening, at 20.30:2020 p.m. viewers will see another Latvian film - the crime story "Shift" (dir. Reinis Kalviņ, XNUMX) about a young taxi driver who got into trouble during the night taxi driver's shift.
The screenings of "Baltic Cinema Days" in Lithuania will take place on August 24-25 at the "Forum Cinemas Vingis" cinema in Vilnius. In accordance with security requirements, event participants will be asked to present an opportunity passport. It can be obtained free of charge if you get vaccinated, get sick with COVID-19, or get a negative test result.
