Already tomorrow, August 25, the "Baltic Cinema Days" will start, inviting viewers to get to know the latest film works of their neighbors - Latvians and Estonians - free of charge. This year event turned to the impact of culture and art on the human personality. This will be illustrated by the opening film of the event - an Estonian documentary about an incredible experiment - the challenge of seeing more than 200 theater performances in one year. The film will close the cinema days with repeat screenings on Sunday at Pasaka cinema.
On Tuesday, at 18 p.m., in hall 5 of the "Forum Cinemas Vingis" cinema, the film "Years full of scenes" (dir. Marta Pulk, 2019), which will open the "Baltic Cinema Days", will be presented by theater critic, film critic and director of the Youth Theater Audronis Liuga. He will not only reveal the twists and turns of the film's plot to the guests of the opening, but will also share insights about the state of the theater and the audience in Lithuania.
The opening film tells the story of a young girl from the province who gets an unusual job - to watch and write reviews of all theater productions in Estonia for a whole year. Purpose: to find out if art can change a person, what influence does it have on life? Alisia, who grew up in a Russian-speaking family and last visited the theater only in elementary school, has her life turned upside down. A new life in a big city and new experiences in the theater will allow her to know her true feelings and desires. The film was noticed and won an award at the International Karlovy Vary Festival, as well as at the Riga Film Festival.
The same evening, at 20.45:2019 p.m., the premiere of the Estonian film "Scandinavian Silence" (dir. Martti Helde, XNUMX) will take place at Forum Cinemas Vingis. The epicenter of the film is a brother and sister, who will try to solve family secrets that do not give them peace during the trip.
On Wednesday, August 26, the audience of "Baltic Cinema Days" will see two Latvian films: "Homo Novus", a romantic comedy about the intrigues of Latvian bohemians in the 1930s (dir. Ana Vidujela, 2018) and "Jelgava", a story full of rebellion about the first years of Latvian independence. '94" (dir. Jānis Ābele, 2019).
All films will be shown in the original language with Lithuanian and English subtitles.
Free screenings of "Baltic Cinema Days" in Lithuania will take place on August 25-26 at the "Forum Cinemas Vingis" cinema. "Baltic Cinema Days" will symbolically end with the opening film - additional screenings of the film "A Year Full of Scenes" will be held on Sunday, August 30, at 16:XNUMX p.m. (at the Pasaka cinema).
The event is organized in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Cinema Center has been giving away free films to the audience for the fourth year.
