On August 20-26, in the cinema center "Forum Cinemas Vingis", "Baltijos kino dienos", organized for the second time, will present a family-friendly program of films loved and recognized by Latvian and Estonian audiences, and will hold meetings with creators. In the same week, the project will take place in all the capitals of the Baltic countries. All "Baltic Cinema Days" screenings in Lithuania, in Latvia and in Estonia will be free.
The project, which started last year, was initiated by the national film institutions of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in order to promote the distribution of films in the neighboring countries, and it received great attention - more than 2000 viewers visited the first "Baltic Film Days".
This year, the "Baltic Cinema Days" program in Lithuania has grown - there are even more and more diverse films: three feature and documentary works by Latvian and Estonian filmmakers, of various genres and periods, and representatives of the film's creative teams will come to meetings and discussions with the audience.
On August 20-22, during the "Baltic Cinema Days", the audience will see the family adventure film "Paradise 89" (dir. Madara Dišlere, 2018), which tells the story of nine-year-old Paula against the background of real historical events as Latvia embarks on the road to independence, one of the most original of the recent Estonian films "November" (dir. Rainer Sarnet, 2017), which evocatively interweaves folk folklore, magic, romantic love and dark humor, as well as the Latvian family drama "Mama" recognized as the best film in the children's and youth program of the Berlin International Film Festival , I love you" (dir. Janis Nords, 2013). The Baltic film program will also show the musical and colorful documentary story of the hippie movement in the Soviet era "Soviet hippies" (2017), narrated by Estonian director Terje Toomistu, the restored one of the most outstanding classic Latvian films, the musical drama "Four Whites", presented in the classics program of the Cannes International Film Festival this year shirt" (dir.
