The festival's most popular films not only remain in cinema repertoires, but are also expanding their geography. Starting today, March 24, the films most loved by "Kino pavasaris" viewers will be screened in 8 Lithuanian cities.
“We have been preparing for this “Kino pavasaris” for several years, so we have prepared a program worthy of its thirtieth anniversary – with film industry stars, special screenings, meetings and, as always, many good films,” says Konradas Kazlauskas, Executive Director of “Kino pavasaris”. “We were delighted to observe how carefully the audience arranged their agendas, trying to see and experience everything.”
"However, even with the most careful planning, the festival cannot cover everything, so today we want to please everyone - those who missed it, those who couldn't fit into the cinema hall, or those who want to repeat it -: the most popular films from the festival will still remain in cinema repertoires for some time. However, as experience shows, you shouldn't delay too long, because the number of screenings will be limited," points out K. Kazlauskas.
"Kino pavasaris" films will continue to be shown in Vilnius for some time, Beautiful, Klaipėda, in Panevėžys, Marijampolė, Utena, Visaginas, Vilkaviškis.
The 22 most popular films of the festival remain in the extension, including the French drama "The Story of Suleiman" (directed by Boris Lojkine) with Guinean actor Abou Sangare, who won the Best Actor award in the Cannes Film Festival's "Un Certain Regard" program and the European Film Awards.
For some time, audiences will also be able to see films by two European film masters in cinemas: British director Andrea Arnold's feature film "The Bird" with memorable roles by Nykiya Adams, Franz Rogowski, and Barry Keoghan, and the new film story "Queer" by Italian director Luca Guadagnino.
"April" by director Dea Kulumbegashvili, which was recognized as the best by the international jury in the "Kino pavasaris" Competition, and "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" by film master Mohammad Rasoulof, which received the most sympathy from the festival audience, also remain in cinemas.
Those who missed it or want to repeat it will also have the opportunity to see the Cannes-awarded debut of Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, grandson of legendary filmmakers Ingmar Bergman and Liv Ullmann, Armand, and the Venice Film Festival-winning drama Vermilion by filmmaker Maura Delpero, which became the first film directed by a woman in almost 20 years to be submitted by Italy for the Oscars.
The repertoire also includes Bernhard Wenger's darkly comic film "The Peacock", seasoned with an attractive flavor of absurdity, and Luis Ortega's stylish and sexy thriller "The Jockey". Fans of lighter films will be treated to the comedy "Fanfare" by the well-known French director Emmanuel Courcol after the festival.
Documentary fans will still be able to see director Silje Evensmo Jacobsen's sensitive documentary "Wild Hearts", which won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema category at the Sundance Film Festival, and Peter Kerekes' film "The Stars Prophesy", which just appeared at the "Kino Pavasarys".
