Iconic, cult, timeless - that's what the 13th open-air cinema festival "China under the stars" program. This year, it was presented by 10 cinema-loving personalities: actors Arūnas Sakalauskas, Gabija Jaraminaitė, Kirilas Glušajevas, Eimutis Kvoščiauskas, Gailė Butvilaitė, Aistė Diržiūtė, Žygimantė Elena Jakštaitė, Jovita Jankelaitytė, good cinema ambassador Dovilė Filmanavičiūtė and director Romas Zabarauskas.
"This year's "Cinema under the Stars" festival says: "Finally see it again!" The program includes 10 iconic, time-tested films, which the audience is invited to see again, and perhaps only for the first time, on the big cinema screen. We couldn't be happier that we were entrusted to present such an iconic program to people who love cinema and live in cinema," says Andrė Balžekienė, head of "Kino po žvaždinamis".
"Casablanca", dir. Michael Curtiz
"Cinema Under the Stars" festival will be opened by one of the most iconic love stories of all time, "Casablanca", in which classic Hollywood stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman played the roles of legendary lovers. The film enchants with its exotic atmosphere, intriguing story and wonderful acting. "This is one of my favorite movies. This is a film whose scenes I can quote by heart," actress Aistė Diržiūtė said while presenting the film.
The film will be released on July 26.
"The Godfather", dir. Francis Ford Coppola
On the second night of the festival, the audience will be greeted by a film that is equally well appreciated by both film critics and the audience. "The Godfather" made actor Al Pacino, director Francis Ford Coppola famous and became a new career boost for movie star Marlon Brando. "Krikštavėtis" celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. "This is the movie I watch when I'm sick, when I don't have the energy to work. He inspires to work, inspires to act the way he acts in the film," said actor Arūnas Sakalaukskas while presenting the film.

"The Society of Dead Poets", dir. Peter Weir

Vertigo, dir. Alfred Hitchcock
Lust, love, deception and murder - the perfect recipe for an evening of cinema under the stars with the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. in 2012 in a survey published by the magazine "Sight and Sound", in which as many as 846 film experts participated, it was Hitchcock's hypnotic masterpiece "Vertigo" that was chosen as the best film of all time. "This film was made in 1958. I believe that at that time it was very original both in terms of the script and the visual part. Even if you look at the film today, it is authentic, unexpected and original," actress Žygimantė Elena Jakštaitė said while presenting the film.

"Only girls in jazz", dir. Billy Wilder
Most film critics consider this comedy to be the best in the history of cinema. It's a comedy in disguise, a genre that has been loved since the days before cinema itself. Here, the male world is faced with walking in high heels, daily make-up procedures, secrets of girls floating around the dressing room and exclusive crushes of a millionaire. "My friend Marilyn Monroe is starring in the film," joked Gailė Butvilaitė during the presentation of the film.
The film will be released on July 30.
"Strawberry Lawn", dir. Ingmar Bergman
This is a road movie, and like all good road movies, it's not just about the physical journey, but the journey into yourself. Iconographic, humane masterpiece of Ingmar Bergman, considered one of the most important films of the Swedish director. He won Golden Globe, Golden Bear and many other awards. "This film is a sensitive, human masterpiece," said actress Gabija Jaraminaitė while presenting the film.

"Lost in Translation", dir. Sofia Coppola
Sofia Coppola's film in which Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson transform into characters tired of loneliness. One of the most memorable and romantic of 2003. films, deservedly awarded three "Golden Globes" and one "Oscar", will decorate the "Cinema under the Stars" program. "This is one of the iconic films of my life, which shook my entire generation in 2003," said Dovilė Filmanavičiūtė while presenting the film.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, dir. Miloš Forman

"The cast of the film sometimes makes you question whether they are acting here or whether everything happened in reality, and the main theme of the film, explored by the director, is as relevant as ever - the theme of obedience and resistance, the system and rebellion, the choice of the individual or the majority path," - introducing Kiril Glushaev said the film.

"2001 Space Odyssey", dir. Stanley Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick's "2001 A Space Odyssey" is a special film in the history of cinema due to its unique visual fulfillment and philosophical depth about human origin, nature and the meaning of life. "In 50 years, this film has become a total classic. It is considered not only the best work of director Stanley Kubrick, but also one of the best films in general," said director Romas Zabarauskas while presenting the film.

"Sweet life", dir. Federico Fellini
The festival will be closed by Italian cinema master Federico Fellini's magnificent and unforgettable film, nominated for four Oscars and awarded with the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, which made the Trevi Fountain in Rome famous forever and first mentioned the now popular term "paparazzi". "The film "Sweet Life" forever became a symbol of refined, carefree and chic life," Jovita Jankelaitytė said when presenting the film.

The open-air cinema festival "Cinema under the Stars" will traditionally take place in the courtyard of the Palace of Lords from July 26 to August 5. Today, July 11, spectators can buy tickets at the lowest price - 5,5 EUR.
