The Embassy of Japan in Lithuania continues its beautiful traditions and, together with the Japan Foundation, invites you to the 21st Japanese Film Festival!
We will invite the audience to cinema halls in Vilnius, Beautiful ir Klaipėda together to discover the dynamism and diversity of Japanese cinematography. This time, the program includes a total of seven films of various genres, so we have no doubt that everyone will find a story they like.
March 2 In Vilnius, the festival will be opened by the film "The Residence of the Artist Moris", starring famous Japanese actors Kirin Kiki and Tsutomu Yamazaki. The film, characterized by its slow pace, invites you to take your time and enjoy the images of everyday home life. On the opening day, the festival audience will be greeted by the Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania, Tetsu Ozaki.
On the second day of the festival, you can see Akiko Ooku's romantic comedy "Shake as much as you want", based on the novel of the same name written by Risa Wataya, winner of the Akutagawa Prize, Japan's prestigious literary award. The film stars Mayu Matsuoka, a rising Japanese film star, in the lead role for the first time, playing the role of a freak trying to find herself in this story.
March 4 we will invite viewers to watch the breathtaking action thriller "Confession of a Murderer". This movie is the Japanese version of the 2012 South Korean film Confession of Murder. Director Yu Irie engages with an intriguing plot and unusual themes, and the confrontation between Tatsuya Fujiwara, who plays the role of a charismatic killer, and Hideaki Ito, who plays an investigator who has been investigating the case for 22 years, does not leave anyone indifferent to the story of this tense crime thriller.
March 5 Young festival viewers and animation fans will be treated to a special screening in Vilnius, during which they will see four short films, including director Tsuneo Goda's "Kitty Stays Home Alone" and "Mogu and Pearl", Yojiro Arai's debut work "Typhoon Noruda" and one of the most famous Japanese anime directors Makoto Shinkai's Five Centimeters Per Second.
