"After a long, practically polar winter, after long months of the pandemic, this year we want to celebrate "China under the stars" brightly and impressively. Watching a movie outdoors is a unique experience that requires special movies. The world of cinema created by Wes Anderson is just that, special - here actors of the highest quality appear in unexpected roles, here melancholy is combined with irony, and every frame is a combination of perfect symmetry and colors. Wes Anderson's films are like cakes made by a jeweler - perfect on the outside, unforgettable on the inside," says Andrė Balžekienė, director of "Kino po žvažnígamis".
W. Anderson is a representative of original cinema, one of the most original and creative JAV filmmakers whose aesthetics cannot be confused with any other. The director is famous for his unique style, his work is inseparable from sentimental irony, his characteristic lyricism, and the dominance of pastel colors. W. Anderson, christened "another Martin Scorcese" (as Mr. Scorcese himself called it) at the beginning of his career, was nominated for 15 Oscars, awarded with BAFTA and Golden Globe awards. Fans of the director's work are cinema lovers who do not lack a subtle sense of humor and appreciate original decorations, costumes, colors and characters.
The program includes three of W. Anderson's most memorable films: the colorful and subtle black humor of the opening film "The Grand Budapest Hotel", the spiritual philosophical adventure comedy "On the Road with Darjeeling" and the comedy "The Tenenbaums" shining with the brightest stars of Hollywood.
W. Anderson's series of films in the "Cinema under the Stars" program is a great way not only to get acquainted with the director's work for those who discover it, but also to repeat screenings of the creator's masterpieces before the release of the director's latest film "The French Dispatch".
