On May 14-15, a huge movie screen will be set up in the parking lot of Liepkalnis and 4 movies will be shown there, which the audience will watch from their cars.
In order to ensure quality viewing, it is planned to accept only a very limited number of cars - no more than 90 cars per session.
Among the films, one of Jim Carrey's best roles (IMDB TOP) will be seen in the romantic film "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind". A fantastic movie and one of the best comedies of the decade "Guardians of the Galaxy". The horror film Hereditary, which is highly rated by IMDB. And the legendary, one of the best IMDB TOP movies of all time "Fight Club", which will definitely not leave you indifferent.
Why is drive-in cinema so popular in the world, and now in Lithuania?
Until now, the Drive-in phenomenon, seen only in movies, came to Lithuania together with the first wave of Covid-19 and immediately found its audience.
The man who invented the drive-in cinema was inspired by his mother, who complained that the cinema seats were uncomfortable. Then the idea came to create a cinema where the viewer is responsible for their own comfort. You can choose the desired sound, adjust your seat properly and take your favorite snacks. Drive-in cinema was, and perhaps still is, one of the most romantic places to date.
Parking lots in Lithuania have long been a place for dates, parties and gatherings. All that was missing was a huge screen to enrich this experience even more.
"We strongly believe in the Drive-in cinema tradition in Lithuania and we show movies not only in parking lots, but also in other unusual places. We have already shown movies in airfields, where movies were watched not only from cars, but also from gliders. We showed cinema on the Palanga bridge, in the wind farm, in forests and other unusual places. We hope that we will find a special place in Vilnius as well, which could become another new heart of the city and a center of attraction. Maybe it will be Liepkalnis", says one of the organizers.
